Skype

In 2010, I worked for Skype London to produce an icon suite to replace their entire current set (on all operating systems). The result was almost 100 unique icons that all followed the same grid structure. Primarily, the brief was to re-draw their existing icons, so that they were no longer dependant on colour or a containing element (i.e. button or background colour).

Art Director, 2010
Every icon was drawn to a strict 8x8px grid, conformed to the same rate-of-curve and only used angles of 15° increments. The result was a set of icons that had the character and sense of roundness, but also meant they were easily scalable.
As the icons have to cater for both extremely large and small dimentions, a minimim circle radius of 4px ensured that even the most complex of icons didn't lose detail when resized
